What made you choose your MSW program? I chose my MSW program at the University of South Carolina because I did my undergraduate studies here and when I had a minor in social work I fell in love with the program and the faculty here.

Why social work?  I chose social work because I want to be able to help young adults with their mental health while also navigating life. I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder at age 18 and I feel the transition would have been a lot smoother if I had help with it.

Where is your most recent field placement? My most recent field placement is with Amedisys Hospice in Columbia.

Who have been your favorite instructors? My favorite instructors so far are Mike Ottone and Dr. Candice Morgan! They both have made a large impact on me so far!

What was your favorite place to study on campus? My favorite place to study on campus is in the Thomas Cooper Library. I love reserving study rooms so I can write out all my thoughts on the whiteboards!

What is your favorite place to eat on campus? My favorite place to eat on campus is Beezer's sandwich shop! It's about a 10-minute walk from my classroom building.

What was the best thing about your academic program? The best thing about my academic program is the faculty. These hardworking individuals genuinely want to see you succeed and they give you every tool necessary to do so!

What are you listening to today? Today I'm listening to 5SOS5, the newest album from 5 Seconds of Summer!

What are you currently reading? Right now, I am reading A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas! I've heard such great things about the series!

Where do you see yourself in three to five years? What are your goals? In three to five years, I see myself working towards my LISW-CP licensure! My ultimate goal is to become a counselor or therapist of some sort! I really want to help adults and young adults navigate life without their mental health issues holding back from living the best life possible.

Advice to applicants: My advice to people applying for their MSW is to absolutely go for it! I was hesitant at first because I thought that it would be difficult as I was told a lot of work goes into a MSW program. I've learned how to better manage my time with school and work as a whole. The MSW program has been tons of fun and I really recommend it to anyone considering it! We need more social workers in this world!
