Where is your most recent field placement? Leeway, which is an inpatient rehabilitation and nursing home located in New Haven, CT.
What made you choose your MSW program? After navigating the struggles of doing in-home counseling during the pandemic, I was super motivated to continue my education and get my master's. The flexibility of Fordham's online MSW program really appealed to me at that time, and I have been able to balance my personal life, a part-time job, and my Fordham education throughout my degree.
While comparing different programs, I was impressed by the resumes and research undertaken by Fordham professors. Based on that, I felt that this would be a great place for me to network with and learn from some of the best minds in the space.
Who is your favorite instructor? Valerie Radu, PhD. She is absolutely amazing as an instructor, and her perspective on social work has been such an inspiration to me. She is extremely down to earth, very intelligent, and wants to see all of her students succeed.
What has been your favorite class? Advanced Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis
What is your favorite place to study on campus? Since my program is fully-remote, I love going to my local library to study. I also like to find coffee shops and small restaurants in the area where I can study and support local businesses!
What is your favorite place to eat on campus? I've only been to this place a small handful of times since I am so far from Fordham's campus, but Rams Deli & Pizza is delicious. Their penne vodka pizza is too good.
What is your favorite subreddit? I think r/Aww is a great source for cute animal self-care.
What are you listening to today? The song End of Beginning by Djo. Djo is the musical alias of Joe Keery, a.k.a. Steve Harrington from Stranger Things!
What has been the best thing about your academic program? Everyone involved is so kind, open-hearted, and open-minded. I have had really positive experiences with all of my professors, and have learned a great deal from each of them.
Advice to applicants: Be involved and engage as much as possible, as early as possible. There are a lot of helpful and inspirational staff, students, and alumni in the Fordham MSW sphere. They can be a powerful network of resources as you advance in your education and career!
