Podcasts are a great way to stay in touch with what’s happening now in the field of social work and social work education. It doesn’t matter if you are a social work student, social work educator, or licensed social worker, podcasts can be a tool for learning and growth.

Below I’ve put together a list of my favorite podcasts for 2023 but I’d love to hear about your favorite social work podcasts. If you have one to recommend, please email me at amanda@socialworkersareawesome.com.

Macro Social Work Your Way

I love Marthea Pitts, MSW and it might be hard to find a bigger macro social work advocate and enthusiast. If you are curious about macro social work and are thinking of making a career shift, Marthea can help with a free course you can find on her web site.

Recent podcast episodes include: Political Social Work—A Conversation with Mayor Gary L. Russ, MSW, Be Careful Chasing Other People’s Career Dreams, and Perfection is Not Required to Do Macro Work. You can find Macro Social Work Your Way on Spotify by clicking here.

The Social Work Rants Podcast

Bas Moreno, LMSW is the host of The Social Work Rants Podcast and has been interviewing a wide variety of social workers each and every week since January 2020. I love that Bas tackles so many different topics related to social work and social change.

Recent podcast episodes include: Black Masculinity and Social Work, Building a Social Work Lifestyle Brand, and School Social Work in Chicago. You can find The Social Work Rants Podcast via Apple Podcasts by clicking here.

Bas Moreno is also the author of Triumph Through Pain: How to Maximize Your Potential in Hard Times.

Social Work Insider

Social Work Insider has it all—education, motivation, and inspiration. If you are looking for a podcast that will leave you feeling energized about the social work profession, this is it.

Host Harleny Vasquez is a social work career coach and you can find her at YourEvolvedMind.com.

The Social Work Podcast

The Social Work Podcast with Jonathan Singer, PhD is the GOAT of social work podcasts. Even with an irregular publishing schedule, you’ll want to subscribe and listen to absolutely every episode. For each episode, Dr. Singer includes APA citations and a full transcript. He’s that good.

Recent podcast episodes include: The Emotional Lives of Teenagers, Loving Someone with Suicidal Thoughts, and Eliminating the ASWB Exam from Illinois. Listen to this podcast on his old school Blogspot site.
